The Farm School is a non-profit educational farm that has been helping people connect to the land since 1989. The Farm School is situated on nearly 400 acres in Athol, Massachusetts and offers three and five-day programs for visiting school groups and their teachers, a full-time middle school for local children, Nipmuc Land Project, and Food Donation Program. Students that come to the Program for Visiting Schools range in age from 2nd -12th grade. You can find out more about the program here.

Summer Program Staff Counselor Posting (Seasonal position)
Summer Program Dates are June 22nd 2026 to August 14th 2026. Support youth ages 10-16 during their 5 and 11 day overnight experiences on the farm. Help create an atmosphere that is kind, playful, artistic, adventurous, musical and….magical! Benefits include: weekends off, onsite housing and meals provided, free access to farm fresh veggies, meat eggs, fruit and staple items. Highly competitive summer program rate of $5,750 starting and $6,750 for returning staff.

Barn/Livestock Farmer Teacher Posting (Full Time Year Round)
Share your love and interest for livestock farming with kids grade 5 and up during 2.5 overnight visits on a beautiful ridgetop farm with mountain views. Join the Barn crew and provide stewardship to a small herd of dairy cows, goats, pigs, laying hens (chickens), beef herd and lambs. People who also have experience with performing arts, theater, music and experiential learning are encouraged to apply. On the job chainsaw, felling, carpentry and tractor training is provided. The key requirement is that you find joy, fulfillment and purpose when you work with youth! Benefits include: 6 weeks of vacation, sick time, health insurance, dental option, free housing as available, health/copay reimbursements, annual 2% Simple IRA contribution, relocation benefits, free access to farm products as available including eggs, milk, meat and vegetables, working in a kind, fun loving and forward thinking community! Salary is based on experience. Intern $36,000, Beginning Farmer Teacher $38,500, Farmer Teacher $41,000.

Chicken Coop School – ELA Teacher & Program Co-Facilitator (Full Time Year Round)
We are looking for a creative and caring educator to join our middle school teaching team at the Chicken Coop School beginning in the ‘26-27 academic year. This talented teacher would lead our reading and writing classes and partner with the other full-time teacher to foster a supportive and engaging environment for our small class of 7th and 8th grade students. We focus on community, academic curiosity, and connection to the land. This is a special opportunity for an experienced teacher who is excited to learn about our unique program and to bring their own interests and expertise. This role additionally functions as a program facilitator and administrator.  In addition to being a part of our one-room school, teachers at the Coop are a part of the larger, vibrant community of the Farm School. This is a job like no other! We are looking for a teacher who is experienced with non-traditional school environments and has an interest in incorporating the farm into their work.
